Hi, new to this forum, need advice on torque for banjo bolts on calipers of 1988 Fifth Avenue (M body). The bolts are 7/16"-20, and I didn't have the service manual handy when I tightened them (had to get the car back together in a hurry). I torqued them to 15 ft/lbs, but later checked the manual and it states 35 ft/lbs. Advice I've heard is everything from "I never torque them" to "15 ft/lbs is plenty" to "more than than and you'll snap them off". I prefer to do things by the book, so do I run much risk of them snapping off at 30-35 ft/lbs? The bolts look beefy enough to me (although they are banjo type, still look strong). Thanks for any advice.
BTW, car is like new. 30k miles.

I've never torqued them...35 ft-lbs won't snap them..I can check in my FSM, but it should be the same for any RWD car from '76 or so (when these calipers were introduced)....

I just go "pretty f'in tight" with a 3/8" ratchet or box wrench and call it good. anyway, you'd probably split the brass washers before you snapped the steel (albeit hollow) bolt.
