To be serious and make it short: the DP will make mor power when you hammer it, but it is not as driveable (and easily adjustable) as the edelbrock carbs.

The Edelbrock is a bolt-on-carb. It simply runs if you put it on. And it can make good power, too!

Both carburetors have their good and bad points. It really depends on what you combination is. If you have a pretty radical camshaft(low vacuum) either one will need a little tweaking to get things right.
I like Holley type carburetors on my racecars, and have been working with the Edelbrocks a lot lately,to me they are less friendly for serious racers. I am using an 800 Edelbrock on my current truck big block build, and am doing a lot of work with it on the dyno to get the cruise mixture and power mixture just right. Out of the box they are pretty rich to keep guys from melting down anything.

Since you already have a carb, why not tell us what it's doing so we can try and help you?

Have you checked for vaccum leaks?

I want my fair share

Exactly,
Give us a rundown on what the rest of the combination is,and what is going on with it.

Take 1,000 guys and:
495 will say "Holley"
495 will say "Edelbrock:
10 will say "other"
You can make your Holley work perfectly. I suggest buying a book.

i agree. i think for the average guy, the holley is a better strip carb and the edelbrock is a better street carb. but to someone who really knows their stuff, the two can run neck and neck.

but most people agree that the edelbrock is an easier carb to tune and adjust, although there are times with certain combinations that it can get tricky: the right step up spring with the right rods and jets.

no carb is going to work well if you don't know how to tune it. What is the problem(s) and what is the application? I have run Holley 750DP's on mild 340's to S/C'd 440 w/ zero issues.

What's the build consist of? I vote Thermo-Quad for anything short of a full race car. I've run them all (Berri, Carterbrock, and Quadrajet)....if you set it up right, which isn't hard to do, the TQ wins hands down for a car that sees street duty

How about some information.
What problem are you having?
What engine combination?
What application?

You may want to chassis dyno the car with a wide band O2 sensor to get an idea where the A/F ratio is at different RPM's and loads.

In an ideal world where we all live next door to everything and have unlimited resources, yes.
For the other 99% of us, it's not necessary to go to that extreme. You can get it running right with a little help.

Like throwing different carbs on will fix an otherwise unknown problem?
But I got your point. Not everyone lives in an area where a chassis dyno is nearby. I have to drive about 20-miles and it only costs about $75, but it makes tuning the car alot quicker.

I've ran a Holley on my Duster for the past 10 years for thousands of street miles, they are perfectly fine on the street as long as you know how to tune them. I second getting a Holley book and learning more about them.

Next time you are at the track, check out the cars..
Next count the # of Holleys and Edelbrocks..
One will find many more Holleys...
Wonder why..
Also if running a big cam with low vacuum, the Edelbrock is very difficult to dial in..

Just my $0.02...
