Hey guys, I'm installing a lift off hood and was wondering how you guys are mounting pins in the back. Anyone have pictures or ideas? I was thinking about using a bracket mounted to the firewall but I'm unsure what to fasten it with seeing as I cant get to the backside for a bolt. Any ideas? This is on a 72 Duster.

Mopar Muscle Oct. 2011 ran an article about this subject. Picture number "4" on the lower right shows how they mounted the pins in a 67 Valiant. Should work for your 72 just fine.

Here is a better shot. I like the way they used the rubber hose for a spacer.

Thanks Bboogieart, thats a great idea. I'll see how stable that is and maybe stiffen it up with a peice of angle iron underneith bolted to the inner fender and have the pin go though both peices of steel. Cool, thanks alot!!!

My Duster has corner braces welded welded on the firewall and then bolted on the inner fenders. The middle small brace for the middle pin is welded to the firewall.

Hmmm... The middle one may be bolted now that I think about it. Anyway it's an ugly engine compartment so the hood stays on at car cruises.

Thanks My340, but thats not really an option seeing as I already painted the engine bay. I think I figured out a good bracket, just gotta test it to see how it works out.
