Looks like phase separation, All ya need is humid air and time with ethanol blends, Buy a gallon from BP... put it in a clear bottle... and wait a few weeks, the stinky crap on the bottom is your problem... if ya take it one step further... store some in a metal coffee can and see what it does to the bottom of the can A quik tip for blending... Dig up a clean 50 gal fuel drum & fill with mix, Keep in cool dry place away from direct sun light, Do not vent, Draw fuel from the middle of the drum for racing, Every couple of weeks test the bottom of the barrel and pump off the ugly stuff < use the ugly stuff to kill fire ants > If you store in the cars tank install a low point drain and drain off the ugly stuff before ya fire the engine then nail the ants We run a small 2 gal fuel tank, I run it dry after racing and fill with 1 gal AV gas then prime & fire it up, It coats everything with lead, try not to get the AV gas on you, it kills more than ants

I used to mix Sunoco 110 with 93 octane pump gas and I had the same problem. When I quit mixing the problem went away. I talked to quite a few people(including one chemist for a local oil refiner)and they all blame it on the ethanol in the pump gas.

Last summer I started draining the fuel cell between races and storing the fuel in sealed containers in a cool place. Modern gas goes bad quickly in an unsealed container. I've been using E25, blending pump 92(E10) and E85 and had no crud or corrosion at all.

2 times in a row recently, i have had all my fuel go bad from the car sitting 3 or 4 weeks .
I blend Bp 92 with Sunoco 110 , half-n-half.

Any thoughts ? Is it from blending ?

I used to run my Valiant on BP 92. I found that if it got more than a couple weeks old it would even be changing color in a sealed jug. The car would slow down almost 1/2 second in the 1/4 until I put new fuel in.

We mix our gas 3 gallons race(112) and 2 gallons (91). We have been racing over 20 years and we put 250 runs plus a year on our cars( we race 2 different cars) and have NEVER had any issues with seperation slowing down or any nonsence like that.I have not raced for over a month and the gas in my fuel jugs looks like the day i put it in there. If you store your gas in direct sunlight it will turn colors.

Look how rusted the a/p diaphragm is? Has to be moisture in the mix, at least at first glance.

i bought a carb off ebay a year ago, when i got it, i was like, wow, this carb is brand new. when i took it apart it looked just like your picture times 10. after i cleaned it all up, it was all pitted like the carb was being eatin away. i rebuilt it, sold it to someone i knew and it works fine but the metering blocks were so bad i thought i may need to replace them. it probably didnt work at all for the guy who had it before i got it.
