yup, most say after 24 hours. wait a day or 2 and you'll be fine.
the longer you wait though, the harder the clear is going to get.

And while there is merit to that idea I've seen stuff move around as the solvents evaporate.. Most have flashed within 24 hours but some take longer.. I prefer to wait two weeks & just realize it's gonna be allot of work... Maybe the best Idea is to cut it open with 1500, shave any runs, work any dirt specks then leave it alone a couple weeks before coming back with 2000 then 3000 Trizact & a final polish..

If it was baked it's ready to go for sure in 24 hours imo. My 71 was not baked and he did it the next day and it is still flawless today. Paint day, The next day,

...with Randy, best to cut the paint, minimum 1000 grit about after a week of painting the car, i like to let it sit about 3 to 4 more weeks to "gas out" any solvents, esp dark colors, because buffing the paint seals the surface somewhat, and further gas out may take place if you buff too soon, causing the paint to "texture" again,...I like to finish wet sanding from 1000 to 1500, then 2000, then 2500, and up to 3000, if you take the car to 2500, it's just polish and your done, anything less, and it's compound, then polish,...the 3M Finessit line is my prefered finishing system

I kind of like it when the paint "retextures", you get more of a factory appearing enamel then. I'm talking real fine texturing. Unless you want the smooth as wet glass look that isn't anything like what the cars looked like when new.

I have observed a couple garage paint jobs that have been sanded and buffed out the next day and they look perfect, but a few weeks later they start showing cloudiness, sanding scratches, and minor orange peel in the clearcoat. What is weird is it's not consistant over the whole car, but just random patches of it here and there.
The production body shops I familiar with here wet sand one time and then use heavy compounds to get the shine out of it. The cars look nice out in the sunlight when the customer picks them up, but under garage lighting they are full of flaws.
I would wait maybe a little longer but not month or anything like that. Luckly my car was only in my painters shop for 10 days, so things moved fast.
Sanding scratches come from imperfections in the body work. And leting cure isn't gonna help with those? are they?
Production body work is different yet from what we expect on our collector/classic cars. I was showing my wife the diffrence on her freshly repaired Durango from a friends body shop who does a lot of work around here. It looked fine, but if you look real close you could see a difference between factory and his work. It matched color wise, just the texture and smoothness is different. I didn't want to pay him anymore, it was good enough for her and I.
