Hi all,
i have a 70 dodge challenger R/T 383 4 speed car and in the process of replacing the clutch, i ordered a 11' 23 spline Mcleod clutch kit, but received a 10.95 clutch kit,we didn't realise this to trying to install clutch and pressure plate, the holes don't line up! the distance between the holes on the flywheel where 160mm and on the pressure plate it measured 150mm. is this the difference between the 11 and 10'95? the diameter of the old clutch is 280mm(11') and the new mcleod is 277mm(10.9055') on the mcleod box it states its a 11' 23 spline clutch, does mecleod produce one clutch to suit the 10'95 and the 11' clutch kits?
cheers

The 10.95 is based on a 10.5" clutch hat the clutch hat is scalloped to fit the larger disc, to fit it on a 130 tooth flyheel which is what your car would have had originally , the 11" clutch uses a larger hat and 143 tooth wheel along with a larger cast iron bellhousing .

What bellhousing do you have ?

All you would need to do is get another pressure plate, I'm pretty sure Mcleod uses that same disc for both clutch sizes. \

I had the same thing happen to me with McLeod, bought an 11" found out later it was 10.95 setup, luckily I needed a clutch for a car with a 130 tooth wheel.

Apparently, You have the 143 tooth 11 inch pattern flywheel. Of course you must have the bellhousing that goes with it. This is a 69 and earlier cast iron set up. Like was said. You can use the 10.95 disc, but need the true 11 inch plate. What must have confused McCloud was the 70 year, but you have the incorrect 69 size.

concidering where you are located, It would probably be alot quicker and cheaper to have a good machine shop drill and tap your flywheel to accept the 10.95 pressure plate.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
