A buddy of mine was telling me about how big C body cars had some torque straps that held the motor mount together and kept the motor from shifting. Does anyone have a picture of this set up or of the straps themselves? Im going to a yard next weekend and I am going try and find a set to put into my car. Also what models and years of c bodies have you seen them in?

I believe they were on police and taxi cars only. It shows it in the FSM I think, but I've never seen them in person.

I have something that may or may not be one , it was in my 69 Superbee when I bought it back from a freind that had put a 383 from a 69 Polara in it , it was neither a police car or a taxi though but I did also get a set of 15x6 H wheels off it also .

It's just a short piece of steel cable with 2 crimped on ends with some sort of spacer , it grabbed one engine ear bolt and the bolt thru the K frame ...

You are lucky that you can still go yarding and find 60's - 70's mopars , around here they crushed pretty much everything when steel was going overseas for big bucks

Yeah I am lucky, the yard I am going to has not crushed a car since the late 50's. It is a amazing place and they have cars stacked on top of other cars. Its starting to become a little overgrown and I am actually bringing my chain saw with to clear a path and to get to some cars. Ill have pics next weekend of this place.

I found them on my '69 Newport vert when I pulled the engine. Runs from an upper mount boss to bottom. Oddly, my passenger side mount was broken.

Must have been a '69 thing because I parted a rough '69 300 convertible several years ago and it had that strap on the driver's side mount only. I saved it and plan on using it on either my current convertible or my '68 300 someday.

I have another friend in central Mass. that took one from a parted '69 C body and is currently using it on his '70 6 BBL. 'Cuda. Works like a charm and protects the fan shroud and shaker hood stuff. THey should have used it on all BB cars of that era.

Would only be on the drivers side , the passenger mount is in compression when the engine is trying to spin itself .

They should have definitely installed that on all 4 speed cars at a minimum.

Kinda reminds me that I remember GM having a cable around the upper control arm bushing to the eng for the same reason as I used to see that on GM cars in the late 60's. Ron

Might not be just a 1969 thing : The one I have came out of a 68 Newport 383/2bl/ 3-on-the-tree manual trans car I cut up.

I bought a 1969 Chrysler station wagon years ago with a 383, it had the driver's side strap.
4bbl, high flow exhausts, 3.23 sure grip, and the gas cap said "premium fuel only".
