The tapered shaft that goes into the kmember? YES. it is bare metal so for rust protection & ease of future dissassembly wipe it with a light coating of grease out of your grease gun.

I would follow the service manual and put them in dry, any lube increases the chance of the shaft spinning in the K-member socket.
