putting together a front end, changing out control arms for sway bar. Do the shafts get greased ? or go in dry thanks

The tapered shaft that goes into the kmember? YES. it is bare metal so for rust protection & ease of future dissassembly wipe it with a light coating of grease out of your grease gun.

I was reading the manual , and found nothing about greasing the part that passes through the k member thanks

I would think no grease. That part is not designed to rotate, it should seat tightly in the k-frame.

I didn't grease mine when I rebuilt the front-end.

I didn't coat mine with anything either. What is this "rust" thing you guys are talking about?

I would follow the service manual and put them in dry, any lube increases the chance of the shaft spinning in the K-member socket.

20 minutes ago I popped a lower control arm right out of a 72 demon. Never been out before, dry as a bone. The torsion bar even came right out although IT is greased at crossmember socket. And this is rusty Chicago, home of the 8 to 10 year old vehicle brake and fuel lines get replaced from rotting out....
