If your talking a road car I'd go hyd roller BUT stay
away from the big lifts and fast ramps and just enjoy
the car.... if you want FAST go solid roller and quit
playing

Don, it would be you with a story of despair and destruction! I have had good luck in the past with solid cams and thinking about stepping the power up on the gtx a bit. Look for me in Sac this weekend as I think I may take a run or two down the track and see if I remember how to drive the thing.

Why the heck do you want to step up the power? You have a beautiful car that is the envy of everyone that see's it.. You run some mighty impressive 11 second numbers for a street car.. AND you get 16 mpg driving the car on 1000 mile road trips..

And besides.. if you step up on the power, I'll have to do the same in the 73.. just so I can say I'm faster than you.. lol

Comp XS282S - Broke in with Comp Cam lube and Zinc additive.

I had a Hyd Comp cam which went to smoking on me...switched to the Comp Solid Flat Tappet , had no problems at break in, and it feels far "snappier" for a similar duration.

Solid flat here. 628 lift. Broke in with comp's additive. About 14 passes and 10 hard street miles. Changed the oil once so far with another pint of comp's additive. So far so good.

Forgot to add I broke in my cam on just the outer springs also. Then I used this tool to install the inner springs on the car. This tool worked great and made it easy installing the inners on the car. Ron

What brand of spring remover is that? Does it work on #7 valves?

I bought it from Mancini but I dont remember what brand it is. I just told them I wanted a good tool to replace valve springs on the car. I will have to look on their site and see if they show a pic of it. That just happens to be what they sent me as I did not point out what I wanted I just asked for the valve spring tool. I really like it as it makes the job so much easier then using the old screw type. Ron

520 lift solid (racer brown) cam in the 360 engine in my duster. Best run was a 10.22 and stepping up to a 560 lift (racer brown) cam in the 408 stroker that will hopefully be in the 9's.

Wow, a .520 lift cam runs 10.22, my 3200# Dart is slower than that with the .590.
What is the spec and weight.
