Hello guys.
I installed exhaust manifolds on my 440 and one of the stud holes was stripped. I had to retap one of the holes to accept the stud, unfortunately I still couldn't get the bolt to tighten up too well.
Well anyways I hooked up the radiator and everything and poured water into the radiator and there is a little bit of water dripping out of the exhaust manifold bolt pictured.
I think I must have dipped into a coolant passage?
What is my course of action to repair this? I am going to remove the manifold tonight.
Will I have to remove the head to fix this?
Please advise.

FOR NOW you can drive a 10 x1.50 mm stud in there, nice and tight with some sealer, and use a 10 mm hex nut.

Seen this all too many times, putting on headers/ etc......chances are when you ran that tap in, the casting is very sensitive in that location, not only did you crack the water jacket, but maybe the exhaust port wall as well, check the oil for signs of anti-freeze.......sorry but I wouldn't chance a start up,.....I'd R&R the head....if you do chance a start up, and have water leaking from your exhaust tip, or your exhaust plume is like a mosquito fogger!.....time to R&R the head............sucks....but sh1t happens

OR, you could keep it simple. If the bolt held, leave the maifold alone and pour in some leak stop in the radiator. If you use the metalic powdered stuff, make sure you mix it with some water so that it is a semi liquid first. Then pour it in with the engine running. Drive it or run it for 20 minutes. Some of those bolt holes go right into the water jacket from the factory. I've had several fresh motors leak past the antisieze I used on my header bolts. I used the leak stop, and never had another problem.

ALL manifold studs are wet on a big block so if the stud is not tight in the threads or sealed with a sealer there will very likely be some seepage. Big block all go to water - small block only the end studs go to water. In your case the stud is slightly loose in the threads ad a good sealer would be beneficial or as said above put in a slightly oversize metric stud. No need to get too carried away and loose a whole bunch of sleep at this point.
