For all you guys out there that have/are built large cu in (540/572) with either supercharged or turbo, what crank are you running. Output probably in the 1200-1400 HP range? I want to build the motor to be reliable and not overpower the internals. I'd rather pay now and do it right. Budget for the rotating assy is about $3,500. Thanks

That money ain't going to get you relaible parts at that power level Call Crower, Calles(SP?), Sonny Bryant and any other good drag race crankshaft company and ask them about which crankshaft and price for that power level Going turbo may lower the costs on the crank and rods, maybe not as I have not built a turbo motor at any power level yet
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Better raise the budget to $4500. Callies crank, Oliver BBC rods and Diamond pistons should get you there.
Thats what I was thinking... I bought a Callies crank and they said that it was good to 1200hp for the model that I got and that was like $2200 for just the crank

OK, I will just need to recalculate the budget some. I need to wait longer to get the other parts. Mr. Pbody, what Callies line did you go with the Magnum, XL, dragonsl.? I was also looking at Ohio cranks. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Thanks Mr. Pbody. That is a nice crank. They don't list the XL for Mopars, but I guess they could custom make it for you.
I am going to call them to talk next week .
Thanks...and any other advice. Don't know if I should buy parts separate, or (for ex.) Ohio has the rotating assy complete from them. I have read that with these good cranks, you have to be careful where and how crank is lightened and balanced. Some say to have the manuf. do it...so to get the entire assy from them may be beneficial. What do you think??
Thanks.

Myself I would have the manu do the lightening and if you know the bob weight have them do the balance BUT I would still have the balanced checked but thats just me

Thanks Cab.
Does anybody know why the typical cranks have more counterweight toward the ends and not in the middle. I know there is an engineering reason and I am curious.
Thanks, Greg.
