we had it
This is a budget build, had the chassis had the engine and trans have a radiator have a gauge set(A100 van) have a shifter have some wheels have a steering column had the air bags and compressor have bed sides and rear fenders making a set of headers have some seats
need windows manual valve body mufflers wiring hoses and belts(might have them to)
teaching Jon how to weld fabricate metal work body work and get a cool old truck road worthy on a budget Ron...

yes it does,BUT they have torsion bars and the adjusters would wind up in the trans pan so that is why we decided to go with the air bags. but the frame rails run great with the truck body, I have one under my race truck and it has a must II frontend on it and that went well too, But now I might be going with a gasser axle under it. this was our first time using air bags. and they were pretty easy to set up we had the bags and brackets they hook to. but we had to modify them to work as they were for the rear of a truck, we cut the brackets down to fit to the frame and to the lower a arm and welded them on we are going to use them on the rear as well. Dude! Do it! That would be so awesome to see at a car show! That would be cool if you could find those sun visor/shades that had the eyes like they do in cars.

Cool project. How will it be titled, 40 Ply or 80 Toyota? The reason I'm asking is I have an 84 Ramcharger 4x2 that I started to restore but lost interest in. The frame is blasted and painted and I hate to scrap it. I've often thought of doing a SR on that frame but it would be titled as an 84 RC. I didn't want to pour money into it for nothing.

Are you just going to run bags on the back or will you run bags with shocks? I have heard of people getting a floating feeling out of the rear end with a 4 link and bags but no shocks.
Do the front air bags line up vertically? In some of the photos the top seem to be shifted inward towards the engine and the bottoms outward in an almost Z like fashion, not sure if this would affect the strength or stability of the bags.
Great photos of progress, any thought put into the radiator cross member and what are the dimensions of the radiator being used?

we ARE going to run shocks in the Rear and the front along with the air bags and today we decided we are going to change out the leaf springs in the rear for a triangulated 4 bar setup (I have it laying around). the bags in the front when completely aired down set flat with the plate that mount them to the lower arm and they have an upward angle to them on the top plate where it is mounted to the frame so when the bag is aired UP it looks like the bag has a sharper angle to it but that is just the way it works out. we checked out this article where they did this on a toyota (check the link below) Ron... link: http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/chassis/0702mt_toyota_truck_front_air_bags/bag_mounts.html

The shaft will shoot right under the headers,we checked that for fit before we welded anything up
we have a few ways to go with a column 1 is with a tilt column we have here or 2 we have a stock column out of one of the COE's that is what Jon is thinking about going with just to keep it simple. Ron...

I'm still looking for a Dakota donor for my 39 Plymouth pick up. But the free budget has been limiting me.

Ron, where are the updates? BTW, where can I find a decent 37 truck project?Looks like you have a few..
not much to report lately on Jon's project but we did get all the 4 bar rear setup tacked in place and the rear air bag stuff as well, just need to do the finish welding. but now the back is adjustable just like the front. we need to get 1 more controller for the air bags and then mount a tank and compressor(we are using the garage air for now)
and sorry I don't know where there are any trucks for sale. I have 2 35-37 cabs and 1 is being built as my 35 COE car hauler and the other cab is slated to be a turned in to a 35 roadster PU in the future. Ron...
P.S. will post some more pics of the rear set up later today....

OK just post some more pictures and show where you are at as of now the truck has been completely disassembled, frame has been painted, and the bottom of the cab has been painted with Gravitex the cab is mounted on the frame for the LAST time. and now the fire wall is finished and ready for paint. all the front suspension parts are painted and some are put back on. Jon Post the before picture of the fire wall and then post what it looks like Now after the firewall is painted it will be time to get the engine and trans painted and installed for the last time. so come on Jon get some pictures posted
