I purchased Metro super soft roof rail weatherstrip and it does not fit right. Car is a 74 Barracuda. Had the old weatherstrip, put it in the channel and it fits perfect. Anyone else have this issue? Any other vendors that make something that fits like the original? Open for suggestions here, thanks John.

Bought the same stuff for my Challenger. The original weatherstripping fit perfectly. The new pieces just fell out of the channel. I ended up gluing the new pieces in.

I test fit them, they do not stay in the channel, they hang down too far, and they do not wrap around the inner lip of the channel. I will give them a call to see whats up. I am sure being rolled up in a ball when they are packaged does not help either. They look nothing like the original part I have.

Same problem with my Duster, ended up re-installing the original.

Any other options for weatherstrip?

Seems lately (last 5+ yrs) you need to purchase all the manufacturers mouldings offered, and go thru them all to determine what fits/works, and what don't when restoring a vehicle,....the soft seal roof mouldings for my Charger were slightly oversized in profile which lead to a few HOURS of tedious playing to readjust the powerwindows to seal, and the doors to open properly with the glass up ....and the door seals from 4 different mfg's went into the trash,...the originals were put back on,...only went thru 2 trunk seals before finding one that worked,...the metro vent window seals were right on the money though, fit like factory, hood seals were good,....and it's just not me, or my car, several other B,E projects, mine and others have experienced the same problems, regardless of the manufactures,...just a crap shoot mfg to mfg,..

The ones I used on the Challenger looked like the original ones except the lip that snaps into the weatherstripping channel was less pronounced. That's why it kept falling out. A little weatherstripping adhesive kept it inplace.

I spoke to the vendor that sold me the roof rail weatherstrip and he is sending me another set. Also have a set coming from Steele rubber products, will let you know how I make out when they arrive. Thanks for the replies, John.

Do let us know.

pssst, inside secret. Those 2 buy from each other. One makes some stuff. The other makes some stuff. Might just be ONE manufacturer of those. I'll ask my guy.

The woman I spoke to at Steele rubber products said they carry a different brand of roof rail weatherstrip, said they have sold several hundred and no complaints. Nice to know they will take them back if I have a problem with them. Will let you know how they work out, John.

Metro makes it and Steele is a vendor for them. Metro also told me to send mine back, no questions, and they'll send a new one, if there was a problem . They should have a 15 year warranty.

Had the same problem also. So I put the original back in and it worked great. I definetly don't reconmend the new stuff unless you have no other option. Good waste of 100 plus bucks

I am using the same stuff on a 73. The channel is working right, the stuff is not staying put on the A pillar. I did use weather strip adhesive to stick it on but after 5 weeks, it all gave way. Looking for another adhesive to tack it back on.

If you ask me, Metro are a bunch of crooks. I haven't heard of anyone ever getting their roof rail weatherstripping to fit.

Installed the passenger side roof rail weatherstrip tonight and it fits perfect. This weatherstrip came from Steele rubber products, name on the part is Soffseal. It locks into the channel tight, I used no glue. Nice stuff. Maybe this will save someone else some time, John.

I used the Metro roof rail seals and they were a bit tight, and had to use a litte talent to get them in, but they are nice, tight and I only used adhesive on the bottom ends, like factory. This is a 68 B body coupe set up.
also used their door seals and was very pleased with the fit.

Not sure if this applies. But early year e-body used a different shape molding for the roof rails, & thus the gasket was different.
