I’m back to the E-85 / E70 question. None of the stations in my area, six stations in a 50 mile radius, has E-85. Yep it’s a supplier issue. The supplier only sells the E-70 blend. Am I right in saying E-70 runs leaner than E-85? That tells me I need to jet up a size or two. I am also ordering an O2 sensor so I can get this thing tuned right. Jim can you post the recommenda lombda numbers again.

Its going to have 15% more gas in it so it should
go fat with the added gas... remember we added jet
(30% more fuel) to make up for the alcohol)
EDIT
you might not have enough octane with E-70

E-85 is 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline. E-70 is 70% ethanol, 30% gasoline. More gasoline, less ethanol, means you jet DOWN.

Gasoline contains more energy per gallon than ethanol, so you need less of it to get the right A/F ratio. I can't help you with the lambda numbers.

I had a Domiantor carb done by a member on here, I dyno tested it with the jetting that was in it and ended up having to jet it down leaner several sizes to make the most power on the engine dyno. It didn't make as much power as a smaller Dominator(1050 gas and 1150 on E85) on race gas did so I ended up buying a E85 tester and found out the local E85 is only E75 As already siad, lean it down(one size at a time ) with more gas

Okay leaner it is. Guess I had a brain fart this morning when was trying to figure this thing out. I'm using a quick fuel 950 E-85 carb.

Russ your cranking compression is likely only 180 (175 to 185 my guess) and probably can run straight 94 with a 5000 stall. I read E-70 is about 98 to 100 octane still so you will be fine as Cab says go down a couple jets sizes then maybe 1 at a time!

Just to be clear, any tuning numbers such as EGT, water temp, A/F, or even Lambda is just a target and each combo might like something slightly different.

But since Lambda is the same for any fuel, I like using it. Each fuel can be converted from Lambda to A/F ratio by multiplying by the fuels stoichiometric ratio.

Stoich gas = 14.7
Stoich E85 = 9.76
Stoich E70 = ? (somewhere between 9.76 and 14.7)
The guys at e85forum.net might have an estimate.

For WOT max power Lambda in the range 0.80-0.86 is about right. I would start with a 0.83 target.

Yes I still have both barrels. Could be worth trying.

Have at it I would use it up!

think you would need to mix it 1 to 1 for EM85

Cab.When u tested the carbs with the e-75 did u dial back on the timing also?

No,I was using extended gap plugs also I didn't know at the time of the testing that it was E75,not E85 as what I thought I had bought I bought the tester later and tested it.
