Looking for somewhere that sells the speedo gears for the late 70s-early 80s style speedo housing. I need a 35 tooth gear for my 78 Fury, that uses the push-in cable, not the earlier screw in style. Anybody know of where I can find one?

Hit up your local transmission rebuilder.

Just a thought. I changed my 77 volare back to the older style. I replaced the cable and housing adapter. I used a 76 cable which had the correct connector for the speedometer head and the early type screw on connector on the trans end. I don`t know if that will work for you but it is worth checking into since the earlier style gears are more available.

The dealer said they are discontinued. I do have everything need to swap to the older style speedo adapter, but with the A500, it barely has enough room for the stock push in style cable. The cable is right up against the back of the crossmember. It's quite a tight fit. I guess I could modify the crossmember so the large nut on the older cable will clear. I was just trying to avoid that though.

Could you use a 90* speedo cable adapter between the cable and older style pinion housing?
