Better find some sort of a pad to protect the the trunk lid from fuel can slips. Leave the new door unpainted until it starts looking crappy. It makes the car look like a race car LOL it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I took the part that I cut out and poured some on it and just let it dry and saw no discoloration. I do however use a microfiber towel just in case.

I was referring to the gap difference from the outer ring flange vs the fuel door panel at the top junction point at the back window. Does it really matter, No, But ,you asked for opinions. I say fix that and " dont paint it blue" " Or Not"
