piece of cake. 11/1 compression, .000 deck flat tops, mild port on iron heads, mopar 590 cam, 750 to 850 on a single plane intake, 2 x 36 to 42 x 3 1/2 collecter headers. OOTB eddies ( have em checked for tight guides, good valve job etc) will push you to mid to low tens with the 850 and 590 cam.
8..603 156 mph best, 2905 lbs 549, indy 572-13, alky

Post them up, I'm looking to get 10.90's in a 3000 LBS car
Not really a 440, but a 451 lowdeck, close enough.
3100 lb. race weight. This one was stupid cheap & mild but affective.
Ross FTs, 9.73 compression, 91cc head "bone stock port" 906 heads with stock size stainless valves XE284H in at 105.5 M1 single, swapmeet 750dp 1.7/8 FW headers with 18" extentions. Ductile iron 1.5 rockers MSD dig.6 Crane pushrods 727 with PTC 4400 9.5" stall 4.10 8.3/4 28" MT slicks Timing at 20* int., 35* total, all in at around 2K Shifted at 5600
10.91 @ 120+ Best. on a 1.51, it was on the ragged edge of a 10.89
With a PTC 11" 3000 stall ran a best of 11.12 @ 119
Around 3600.00 in engine carb too pan
Don't really need any fancy stuff like aluminum heads & big cam/carb to pull high tens at 3000 Lbs.

12.5 to 1 stock stroke 440 906 heads with Entry Level FAST porting by Dwayne Porter Custom Solid Roller by Porter Exhaust manifolds and Dynomax mufflers 3,850LB 69 Six Pack Superbee Stock Hemi 4-speed with Centerforce clutch On hard street tires went 11.80's @ 119 first time out........Take out 850LBS and it'd run 127+ which is enough for 10.30's with slicks and an automatic, and that's through exhaust manifolds......
If you can't handle the truth, you're living a lie.......

Yep, what he said! Almost too easy. In fact, at a true 3000# race weight, I bet with the RIGHT converter/gear, it should go in the 10's with a HYDRAULIC stick...like even the old MP 509!
My last 440 was .030 over, TRW fat tops, Crane roller, 250" cfm 906 heads...at 3200#...10.28 @ 128 best lap.

because unless it's an a-body or a superlight car you'l spend twice as much to make it fast.

yeah and do a 440 next time and you tell me which is faster...if you can peal the smile off ur face. apples and oranges. Takes a lot of work, like crank, ported heads, big cams, expesive converters, headers and gear for a SB to run w/ a BB. Not saying it can't be done but $ for $ a 440 is a great place to start for a drag car.

Stock stroke 440. H-beam rods, Ross 11:1 pistons, ported stealth or e-heads (OOTB) heads, 620ish cam, TM-7 intake, 950HP carb, 4200 stall, and 4.30's should get you there easy. Nothing fancy to it.

A mild 440 with a decent cam, .640 and a little port work on the heads with a decent converter should do it easy EDIT all it takes is about 420 HP
