Thanks for the replies. I once owned a 1999 intrepid with the 2.7 and after 120,000 the motor started smoking but other than that i really like the style and car. Now looking at a one owner used 2003 intrepid SE with 115,000 and the 2.7 v6. Car is super clean with all options except moonroof and everything functions great and no smoke. Guy said the 2.7 had a newer configuration?? Any mopar techs out here that can give me some feed back on these motors? I'd rather it had the 3.5 but not the case...Thanks

Asking price is 3,700

Don't do car, Get a 3.5 car. You have already been a victim of a 2.7 why do it again. There is nothing new about the 03 2.7 and they are a problem child still. Now someone will come on here and say their neighbors, cousins, uncles, sister, third removed step child had one that was problem free, well my info is from the hundreds of 2.7 cars I have seen go to the shredder because of engine problems. Don't do it

For the absolute best powder coating go to J.I.T powder coating, contact infomation is in my personal profile..

Forest The whole timing chain setup is a major PITA. Oiling system is inadequate causing them to sludge up and self destruct with low miles.

You a gamblin' man?

I have to 3x that. Even if the timing and PITA h2o pump have been gone through recently, w/o a sludge answer, the clock is already ticking down. JY Mopar sections are filled with less than 10 yr old 2.7s LHs with loose plenums.

Conversely, body parts are plentiful...
