I got the solid one then another and the're both going back because the don't fit. The collar is to short and hits the timing index before seating on the crank this would allow the lower timing chain sprocket to float in and out .3" resulting in failure at some point. The collar on the first one was over 1/2' to short and the second .3" shorter than stock. I also had to shave my starter snout to clear their flexplate and their roller rockers to clear the most commonly used performance valve spring diameter. NO more PRW for me.
To their credit they did send a return shipping tag and offered a refund on the balancers.

Are you ordering one of their cheap balancers that have a rep for the outer ring slipping, or are you going to pony up the $$$ for a decent piece?

Which one slips? Summit brand, Trick flow?

Summit offers two versions IIRC and people have complained about the "budget" model slipping. I don't know anything about Trick Flow's stuff.

IMO, any balancer which you can buy brand new for under $250 is "highly suspect" based on the experiences I've seen and heard of. Doesn't seem to matter whose name is on it if you can buy one that cheaply. Balancers seem to fall into that category of parts where you really do get what you pay for.

EDIT: Let me change my price point to $200, only because I've heard that PowerBond balancers are pretty decent and sell for somewhere in the $225-250 range IIRC. But the sub-$200 stuff is generally all

I was ordering the $159 trick flow damper but after considering what I went through with PRW I reconsidered and went with the $296 Summit brand. I have to much time and money invested to get something else that doesn't work. I'm also thrifty

The PowerBond Unit also sold under Pioneer brand & PBM is the only damper I use other than ATI. It's my "budget" choice... have never had a single problem with one, even in 700-750 HP motors, including circle track use. I've probably used 35-40 of them.

I've had several Summit SFI dampers fail (slip).

I bought an ATI, if you know anyone with a Summit or Jegs pro shop discount they can be had for about $350.

When I did a search that one never came up. This is the one I ordered
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-B64277/ is this the one that slipped or was it the cheap one? I don't want to screw up your work.
It's been shipped but I can order a different one and send it back.
What do you think.

That's the one we have had alot of problems with.... I would send it back & the the Pioneer/PB for 1/2 the price, it's a much better piece.
