too bad there are too wide for the factory hold down brackets
How would one expect anything different? They are made to fit OVER an existing battery.

i would expect them to be actually usable.
They do exactly what they are designed to do, fit OVER an existing battery. That's what you get for cheaping out and not buying a resto battery

The resto batteries are expensive and they are short on performance and longevity. Enough said.
Yes that is true so if one is going cheap out even though they demand the correct resto look they should not be when a halfassed compromise doesn't fit as well as the proper part.

Wasn't there the ability to just buy the case? And then you can stick in one of those lightweight race batteries inside???
No , you have to find someone with a dead battery that wants to sell it to you to do this and it's a messy job. It would be niceiif the battery companies did this though, sold an empty shell with no bottom , I'd gladly pay for one like that.

I don't know if you can just get the caps, but here's what I did. A buddy ordered a green cap battery and got a yellow cap battery, the CO. sent him the correct green caps for the repo battery he ordered and he gave me the yellow caps. I took the yellow caps and ground down the threads so they would push into my Interstate battery. I am very pleased with the look but I have a MTP-24 ( MTP is a high cranking amp battery ) that has Interstate molded in the top, when I replace this battery I will order a MT-24 that only will have a Interstate sticker on top and once removed I will have a solid black case battery with the correct yellow caps for my car.
One can buy the caps , I did a couple years ago , never ended up using them though. Nice tip on the interstate battery.
