was wondering what this oil pan came off of , stamped 187 , now is on (under) 71 440 in a 68 barracuda , thought maybe that would tell me what the motor came out of , just curious , thanks guys
theres nothing as permanent as a temporary fix

It may or may not have come with that engine originally but the 187 is one of about three pans that are known to work in the A bodies..... What is stamped on the pad to the right of the distributor? How about on the machined pad just above the oil pad on the passenger side of the block, just to the rear of the motor mount?.....

pass side of block 10 21 70 2538430-10 on machined pad above oil pan 1c25950
71 C barge engine , that's the pan it would have been born with .
