I am at my wits end, and the money is coming to an end too!
I recently got my car back from shop after having engine rebuilt, car sat before that and since for around 3 years.
I did not drain gas from car when I stored it. For 3 years. I then took it to the mechanic where it sat another 6 months.
When I got it back from the mechanic car ran fine then I kept running out of gas. Then I find that if I hooked up gas line to a plastic bottle full of gas it ran fine.
So I took it to the mechanic where he found someone had ran a screw up into the gas tank with some sort of caulk to seal it.
He figured the slime from the screw got in to the gas line and clogged it up. He dropped the gas tank, said gas tank was clean as a whistle, he then blew out the gas lines, fixed the hole witn a tin type solder using a giant soldering iron.
After picking up the car it ran fine, for about 25 miles. It happened the second day after I got it back. I drove around for about a half hour. Came home for about and hour then went to get in it and, it did not make it 100 yards, shutting down.
I ran the gas out of the carb and gas line, I guess trying to restart it. Walked back to the house got the plastic jug ran the line into that
primed the carb and the car is now running from gas in the jug.
Only thing left I can think of is the gas lines are fouled up, or I need somesort of vented gas cap. Are there any other senarios that I might not thave thought of. Please if you can't help send help. Thanks Mowpar
