thrashed to get the car ready for the small tire race in Ky ran a shake down pass to make sure it went straight, trans shifted and i had brakes foot braked it pretty much from an idle, laid it down part throttle shifting @ 6,600 rpm and let out just before the stripe. 5.86 with a 1.32 60 and 114mph had a big smile on my face from that shake down pass it still had almost 250 more HP from the dyno sheets from what it made at 6,600 rpm now time to turn the thing up to lay a number down. we pulled back up to the staging lanes, i fired it up and put it in gear to pull out and i hear a tining noise i shut it off as quick as i could we pulled it back to silverfishs pit, only place we had light to see what went wrong. i started pulling plugs out on the #1 side as Vic started pulling plugs on the other side. he got to #2 cylinder and the plug was smashed pulled the valve cover and #2 cylinder had dropped a exhuast valve i pulled the head to see how bad it was need a new piston, lucky the cylinder wall doesnt have a scratch in it head isnt hurt very bad also should be a easy fix then its time to turn this beast up Bob

That sucks, Bob. This is a used bullet, right? I would treat the motor like any roller motor, and pretend it's at it's 250 pass maintainence check. New roller lifters, new bearings, hone, new rings, zyglow the crank and rods, valve job and new springs and keepers. And since one valve died, I sure as h e l l wouldn't reuse any of the remaining 15. That's how I see it.

Wow, I actually see this as good news! Dropping a valve can wipe out an entire engine, so losing a piston and dinging a chamber up a bit is a Godsend compared to what it could have been. It sounds like that little mutha is really gonna boogie when you get a full pass in

Sorry to hear about the mishap Bob, but I am sure it will be good as new or better when you get her fixed, I agree with everyone, as unfortunate as it was it sure could of been much, much worse.
