You want it slightly oversize so the wires supporting the berries deflect a little... With a small hone you won't get even pressure... 15/16 would be ideal & they do/did make them, I have one from back in the 80's... But a 1" will work just don't do more than a couple passes with it.. Use light oil & expect to be cleaning the block again...
