I remember back in the early 80s someone making $4/hour could could get and fix up (or drive as is) a great running musclecar. The pre 1972 440s and 383s were PLENTIFULL and you could run one as is- OR you could do a rings bearings and gasket rebuild with Blackjack headers, Torker intake and a Holley carb and be the street racing king. This could be done on a working kids wage. In 2010 I dont see any low income kids who can buy a 10 year old stang and rebuild the motor- let along buy and install hi po goodies. Its just not a gearhead friendly day and age.
