because stuff was made much better...
lots of things where real...hand made or made from scratch with craftsmanship...
not like today...
every thing is from china and throw away...
i have a watch from my grandfather that was handed down..to me..it cost him $150 in 1960
its now worth atleast 1000 bucks.but its a fine watch..for centimental value plus its real $ amount.
people dont care about this stuff right now.
tell me something worth handing down to your grandkids?....your plasma screen?,,your plastic watch.? oh i know you cell phone...
all worth zero...by next christmas..

i didnt think so...?
even if you could do this today..the kids would probably not want to go anyway..
they would rather stay home and wait for the text reply from the kid next door..
or choose to stay plugged into the playstation..
i mean why climb mount everest when you can just watch it/play it on a dvd....?
