Mine did the same thing. The brake light voltage goes through the turn signal mechanisim. The contacts get quite hot and over time and the plastic deforms and melts. They no longer make electrical connection. Replace the turn signal mechanism. Get a good quality one, not the cheap ones from NAPA, Checker, etc. attaboy
