What years of dakota's should you look for? Or does it even make a difference? I've read something about some newer years having 6 bolt wheels, can this be easily changed to 5 bolt?

Up to 1990 dakota were 5 lug with 4.5 spacing. in 1991 it changed to 6 lug with 4.5 pattern, but the chassis remained the same until 1996 as I understand it. So the spindles remained the same so you should be able to replace the rotor and hub assembly from an early 5 bolt dakota with the 91-96 dakota.
