You may want to re-read this response especially the last line. I have never seen what I consider a respectible job on a three speed wiper motor which was painted. Plating is the right way to go. Also the price charged for doing it right (complete restoration) not only includes the finish but the internals are restored, wires and any other worn parts are replaced. That said, you may want to consider removing the barrell and have it plated.
