It is quite common amongst 5.7s. The motors do carry roller cams and all 4 of the ones that I have had, including my current 50K mile version in my Charger make some lifter noise. It is normal of these motors. They are not quiet by any means, just like the 426s. At the very least, the motor will sound like a sewing machine. There is some truth behind the idea that the valve guides are large and contributing to some of the Hemi tick, but it does not hinder performance or durability.

The 04 and ealier versions had some issues with weak valve springs breaking, but that was remidied in 2005.

The 5.7 is a very tough motor, even with its not so quiet valvetrain. I love mine.

As long as 5w20 oil is being used, it should be ok.
