I think what everyone is telling you is if you want the motor to be at a lower rev at the finish line, you have to change to a lower (number) gear or a taller tire. Given that 14X32 is pretty common and big, the best answer would be to change the rear gear. The converter may be slipping, and replacing it with one more suited to your combo may help in the 1/8th, but you are running out of car before you are at the end of the 1/4.
