I also check the exhaust lobes the same way to make sure the cam is ground properly. I have sent more than one cam back do to the exhaust lobes being ground on a different lobe center than the cam card call for, IE 110 LSA and the intake is at 110 with the exhaust lobes being from 111 to 113 BTDC at two different checking heights puke scope down
They're correct or they are not rantscope

I was at Sonny Leonards one day and he had one of those cam checking gizmos. That told me he's bought a cam that wasn't right before. I wanted one, but when I checked the price, I had to step back. Even though I'll pay about anything for a fancy tool, I couldn't do it for a guy that builds a motor every couple of years.
