The original SRP of the SX1980 in 1978 was $1295.... However note it was discontinued abruptly after being sued for fraudulent advertising for inflated published power output specs...  Pioneer claimed 270Wx2 but actual specs was 160Wx2... Just wondering where you saw the 160watt claim? AFAIK, the SX1980 was underrated, not over rated. Maybe they had some defective units?
