If you google "Richmond 5 speed shifting problems" you'll get pages and pages of hits. Lots of complaints on the subject and they all sound like my transmission. Mine shifts just fine if you are driving around town but if you try to bang gears then it just isn't happening. It takes X amount of time to shift regardless of how hard you pull on the lever. Pulling harder doesn't make it go faster, it shifts when it is ready to shift. This video gives a pretty good explanation of the issue but I've never taken mine apart to try the fix.
