I sold mine via a paypal deposit, (500.00) followed by two cashiers checks, 1 for a higher deposit, the second for the balance. Both checks cleared long before the car was picked up and this agreed to in writing as well as the deposits being non refundable.
I also did a bit of googling on the buyer. he was a well established business owner so that helped as well
