Cal-tracs are a fine tuning tool to get the last hundredths out of a drag racing combination. They are not a traction aiding device that will plant a street radial and install bite to tires that do not already have it present.

The originator of Cal-tracs developed them for his Mustang that had symetrical leafs so they would act more like a non-symetrical Mopar spring in a class where relocated mounts points was prohibited. I've know some very good class racers that saw no more improvement with cal-tracs than very scienced out sets of SS springs. Now, the cal-trac is more easily adjusted than removing and doctoring a leaf, so there is some advantage to them.

For what you would spend on Cal-tracs, you would probably be dollars and e.t. ahead to get some slicks and steel wheels for drag strip use.
