If it is in fact to shape the charge past the guide boss & valve stem, it seems this mod would be more effective on the port roof than the floor. If the charge follows the port into the bowl, wouldn’t charge following the upper half of the port cross the guide boss & stem, while the floor charge would fall directly across the valve face (???).
