Hello,

I am getting my basic 440 put together for some street/strip action.

The heads have new springs, and have been ported but are otherwise stock. Stock retainers, valves etc. Decent guides and valve seats.

I would like to run a .504-519 cam in it. Exhaust is decent for clearance between the retainer and seal.

Intake is about .474 right now for clearance. Not enough, hence the problem.

I should note that without the seal, I have over .700 clearance between the botton of the retainer and the top of the guide.

Are there alternate seals that I can get off the shelf and run as is? For a variety of reasons I would rather not go to the machine shop right now.

There must be some racer trick to fixing this.

Thank you for your help.
