That is exactly why I am asking the question....

I had a 1999 Ram 1500 that I bought new with the factory aluminum 16" wheels and it came with rear drums. I found a set of 17" factory wheels from a newer Ram 1500 and bought them for that truck, had new tires mounted on the wheels. They fit the front, but would not clear the rear drums whiney

Eventually, I went to Jeg's and bought some 17" Americans and they fit, but I paid a lot more for them.
