I was told that the end gasket goes on the bottom of the side gasket at rear, and on top at the front, and maybe the mechanic did that wrong. I can see plenty of sealant though. The 360 and 318 use different pan, but maybe some of this applies.

I sure can tell you the oil pan on the 89-318 I got from you was sealed to the block for sure. not sure if you had it changed before, but it had some killer black rtv with a cork gasket/metal center that I had to hammer a flat putty knife down both sides of the block to cut it loose.
