The basic sensor is a simple 0-5V sensor, but ... (there's always a "but" isn't there?) they use the V-net to make it dirt simple to add and remove sensors with no additional wiring. It's like a long daisy-chain or a CAN network, You just insert the V-net module anywhere in the network and it works. But that requires the V-net module electronics to communicate with the network. The sensor is simple but you still need the electronics interface.
