Probably not with the Whiplash, I believe Hughes designed them with low enough lift, but ask them.

For my part, I would advise to yes cut the valve guides down, it is really quite easy with the right tool. On my 318 I bought a used cutter that finished the OD to fit the factory seals and cut down the height. So basically the cutter didn't touch most of the ODs.

If you go this route be careful with the cutter. Don't let it drop on the guide. I broke mine this way, now it leaves a step that I have to take off by hand, or buy a new cutter.
