Thanks for the warm welcome and suggestions everyone!

The ECU hasn't arrived yet, didn't know it comes with more detailed instructions. I'll wait and report back!
Ordered the FireCore via Jegs, here's what they have to say:

Quote:

Typical Wiring for Muscle Car or Street Rod Installation:

- Mopar Style ECU: 555-40800, 555-40805, 312-P4120505, 312-P412035
- 1 Ohm Ballast Resistor: 555-40103, 312-P5206436
-Mopar OEM or OEM Style (oil filled Coil) or HP Coil 555-40105

Trouble Shooting:

- Use the appropriate BR, 1 Ohm is recommended (minimum of 0.5 Ohm)
- Operation without BR will damage the ECU and Coil
- Do not use a CD (i.e. MSD) coil since this will damage the ECU
- Check voltage between Coil (+) and good ground ... should read between 7.0 and 9,0 Volts

Of course I'd be happy keeping the Blaster II coil, maybe putting a spare in the glove box ;-)
Nothing beats a well matched setup though, even on a street car!
