I was able to shift everything on the trans manually, and used the same plate that was on the car when I pulled it apart. I think I'll disassemble everything and start over again.

Yes, the rods have a gold hue. I didn't like what I saw and how they fit, but they were better than what I had. I'll try to return them and get a set from Brewers.
