If your idle is surging, then it may be time to do some simple maintenance.

clean the throttle body idle passage, clean/replace the idle control solenoid, and check for vacuum leaks -- particularly the plenum gasket on the bottom of the intake mainfold (remove the intake to do this)

IF you still have a surging idle after doing these, then look at going deeper and cleaning or replacing the other sensors.

having a scan tool like an MT2500 that allows you to read each sensor 'live' while the computer operates in closed loop, will allow you to see if any one sensor is causing the idle to bounce.

Couldn't hurt to replace the timing chain either, but that's going a bit deeper than 'routine maintenance'
