My thought is these are mainly used as a "shim" if you will, to properly align and fill a gap between the intake ports in the head with the ports on the manifold depending on how much material that may have been removed from block decking or cylinder head milling. They can however provide additional sealing characteristics due to the material composition. Superformance Products now offers these gaskets made from Interface Solutions NI-2085, better than anything available on the market for this application. THAT is good to know !! Thanks.
