I built a 512 low deck(4.375 x4.25 stroke) pump gas street motor several years ago for street and strip with ported big valve 906 heads, it made 612 hp at 5600 RPMs and 644 ft. lbs at 4500 rpm with a six pak and the OEM vavume carbs. on CA pump gas. The cam is a custom grind Comp Cams solid roller that is 260 @ .050 on the intake with .420 lobe lift, the exhaust lobe is 266@.050 with .409 lobe lift. I used a set of CAT 1.6 rockers(actual ratio was more like 1.54) originally and then step the motor up with a set of MCH CNC ported Eddy RPM heads and a set of the Harland Sharp 1.6 roller rockers(actual more like 1.62 at the retianers, .720 net lift intake and .700 net on the exhaust)then the next year I swap the 4.25 stroke crank for a 4.300 stroker crank to raise the compression from 9.25 to 1 to 10.29 to 1. I didn't dyno the motor after the head change but I did redyno it after the crankshaft and compression chamge, 720 HP @5800 rpm and 740+ ft. lbs. @ 4600 rpms on Oregon pump gas My main message is that your combination of motor parts will probally do real well with a bigger cam and a large intake system, big motors need and like big cams and lots of air. I wouldn't hesitate to use the 440-2 with a 1000 cfm 4150 carb or a 1050 Domianator with a adapter(if that will fit oaky in the car) or the 440-3 with a two inch reversion spacer or even better yet the Indy bathtub intake with two 750 (or bigger )carbs.
