Nothing wrong with a 48RE....most of the ones we used to get for rebuild were owner ABUSE...like hooking onto 12000 lbs of 5th wheel and not realizing that there was a "shifter" on the column!! That's right....peddle to the metal and overheat like crazy. A reputable transmission shop should be able to fix one to last indefinitely.Do some searching.... Anyone that gives you flack about that trans has major ISSUES!!!
