My 323" 4spd 4dr has the standard 340"'s hp camshaft(.430/.444), and areohead 318 milled heads w/ factory iron adjustables, streetmaster edelbrock SP intake and stiff springed 770SA holley. The exhaust is summit headers and summit cheap mufflers ,with a 3.23 gear set in back. Has the "classic mopar muscle car" idle sound.

With a RPM manifold and 600 holley it made 237 rwhp.

It pulls the same as the first 4 gears of a 90's 5spd 5.0L mustang. My 323" is pretty impressive for a daily beater.

My pistons were .060+/- down in the hole. The Aerohead performance 130cc 318 port (051?) 1.88/1.60 heads had 72 cc chambers, and could be angle milled (with an optional reset of the piston valve reliefs) , to the low 60's. You could make 8.8-9:1 compression easily with a 318 stock bottom. Most people are going to rebuild the heads anyways. I say why not?

If you keep the RPMs under 5200-5500, its plenty. Have fun in the 14's, and smoking the 225/60 series tires. Make sure you know how to set up a advance w/ vacuum can, and set up a carb for street driving

Better yet, for the same price as the rebuilt milled/ported Aerohead 318 heads($500), you can buy Magnum rebuilt heads complete. Aquire the PP airgap RPM copy, that works for both LA and magnum heads, is about $150 bucks. Get the pushrods, and your in bussiness with as much as 75 more hp.

looky here, it's sleeping...
